I Korean Music Awards attribuiscono maggiore importanza agli album e alle canzoni piuttosto che agli artisti. Invece delle vendite, il risultato musicale è il criterio chiave nella scelta dei vincitori. La cerimonia di premiazione mira ad aiutare il progresso della musica coreana senza creare barriere tra musica mainstream e non mainstream.
I vincitori saranno annunciati al 18° Korean Music Awards il 28 febbraio alle 18.m. KST al Nodeulseom di Seoul. L’annuncio sarà trasmesso in diretta streaming online.
